Tuesday Night is Comedy Night in Los Angeles

Another big night of live comedy this Tuesday night in Los Angeles. Check out the run down:

8:30: UCB Theater – Comedy Death Ray – $5
*Advanced reservations to this show are unavailable. There will be a stand-by line.
Looks like a solid line-up for CDR including the Sklar Bros. and Jonah Ray…two killers.

10:00: Laugh Factory – Life of the Party – $10 if you contact Jay Davis
Jay Davis is bringing Dane Cook out for what always proves to be a great show. You have to get to this show EEAARRLY though. It can be a hassle if you do arrive anywhere close to 10.

10:00: Irvine Improv – Comedy Juice – Free
Sure…we take you down to the OC here at Live Comedy L.A. Especially for this Free line-up. Just want to highlight Daniel Kinno and Adam Devine – both stellar performers that we have written about many times before. You’ll also see Ben Gleib and Rob Delaney.

Comedy Death Ray This Tuesday at UCB in Los Angeles

Photobucket

Your stand-up comedy options are a-plenty this Tuesday (Feb. 5th) evening in L.A. We talked about the killer line-up at Ballgame’s Laugh Lounge already…but if you feel like seeing some alterna-comics at UCB…Comedy Death Ray is the show. I personally have not been…but I can’t say enough good things about Maria Bamford. I think you’ll also enjoy Harris Wittels and Rob Delaney. Plus…you get Marc Maron. I haven’t seen him before…but he’s pretty big. The point is…you have choices for stand-up comedy on Tuesday night. One is free…the other is $5. Try going to see a good movie for those prices.

Ari Shaffir, Todd Womack Kill at Ballgame’s Laugh Lounge

Photobucket

Really big crowd last night for a solid line-up at Ballgame’s Laugh Lounge. First time Red Rock performers Ari Shaffir (you may know him from Joe Rogan’s crew) and Todd Womack (Video) crushed it. Ari is mostly associated with Joe Rogan so it was cool seeing him away from that crew because he absolutely has the talent to stand alone. Don’t get me wrong…it kicks ass for him to have a partner like Rogan…along with Joey Diaz…they have a killer show that everyone should see. Ari’s stage presence and writing are awesome. Todd Womack was a great suprise because I had not see him perform previously. I love seeing new, awesome comedians. I think Todd performs at UCB a lot…so I’m definitely going to check him out there. Hit up his videos when you have a chance.

The rest of the line-up was solid:

Sari Karplus: ProfileShot
Dave Hanson: ProfileShot
Jason Gillearn: ProfileShot
Nick Thune: ProfileShotVideoShot

A word on Thune. I thought he mailed in this performance and is capable of much better. I really haven’t seen new material from Thune in about 2+ years and didn’t really appreciate the fact that he wasn’t giving a full effort. You bring 100% every time…or stay home. Bone Hampton brings 100% every time…Jason Gillearn brings 100% every time…Joe Rogan brings 100% every time. Thune brought about 50% and his attitude showed. Having a bad set is one thing…mailing in a performance is another.

All Things Brody @ UCB Theater Tonight

Photobucket

Brody Stevens. Boom. Straight from the 818. That’s right people…he’s from the Valley and damn proud of it. Brody is unreal. He is by far the most unique comedian in the city. And I’ll be quite honest…an hour of Brody makes me giddy.

Check him out tonight at UCB at 9:30pm for $8 (Make your reservations here). Check him out here first (VideoShot).

Upright Citizens Brigade launches UCBComedy.com

Photobucket

The Upright Citizens Brigade gets it. They get web 2.0…they get that you have to embrace and engage the very talent that makes your establishment function…they get that quality must be maintained at all times…they just get it. All of this is no more evident than with the launch of their recent website UCB Comedy. The website contains a well organized collection of exclusive video content featuring performances from the UCB Theater and shorts/series produced by UCB members and contributors. It’s fantastic! You can’t find these videos anywhere else on the web…and it actually makes you want to go to the UCB Theater and see them do their shows live. Of course I’d like to see a few more stand-up comedy videos…but one step at a time. Definitely check it out when you get a chance. Also check out a show at the UCB Theater. It’s just over in Los Feliz. The stand-up is excellent. PERFECT for a date…restaurants are right there…and the shows are very reasonable. Trust me fellas…do this…comedy is the way to go when whooing the ladies.
