Todd Glass is 3 minutes into his set when a gentleman in the front row (seated alone) reaches for his cell phone to respond to view and respond to a text message. Glass tells him very directly to put his phone away. The gentleman motions for Glass to hold on a moment. Glass forcefully grabs the cell phone out of the gentleman’s hands and puts the cell phone on the piano on stage and makes fun of the gentleman for 2 minutes.
Did Todd Glass go too far?
First things first…if I was the dude, I would have been on stage beating Todd Glass in the head with the mic. But that’s me…you may have reacted differently.
Let’s make one thing clear, it’s rude to send text messages while a comedian is on stage (especially in the front row). It’s just rude! Repeated text messaging is grounds for a comedian to go after an audience member – verbally. Furthermore, when an audience member ignores a request from the comedian to put away the phone, he deserves to be verbally annihilated by the comedian. This guy may have been a monster d-bag for ignoring Todd Glass…but for Glass to forcefully take the cell phone out of his hand…is ridiculous. Who the hell is Todd Glass?
Maybe this guy has a pregnant wife at home who he’s waiting to hear from…maybe he’s a doctor…or maybe he’s just a dick. It really doesn’t matter. The fact of the matter is…this guy paid to be there…and Glass needs to remember that. If you are a comedian, use your verbal skills. Don’t pull some garbage like this. I like Todd Glass…he makes me laugh. But I think this was piss poor.
Keep an eye out for the new Verizon Wireless commercial…you’ll see L.A. comedian Dwayne Perkins. Dwayne is a terrific, clean comedian from NY who now performs regularly in the L.A.-area. In fact, you can catch him this Tuesday, March 4th at the Hollywood Improv at 10pm. See them on TV…then see them live in the clubs. It’s great when our local comedians get their breaks. If you spot any L.A. comedians on TV shows, in commercials, or in movies…let us know. In the mean time, check out Dwayne in the Verizon commercial and in the this YouTube Video.
This line-up is sick for $7. Dave Attell. Really? And get ready for Aziz Ansari…he kills. Hit up Andrew for the guest list discount. You still have to get there early though because this one of those deals where you are not guaranteed a seat even though you are on the list. This happens when outside folks put on the show. The guys are Comedy Juice put on great shows…but you get there early.

Bill Burr is definitely one of the top comedians out there…and now that he has moved to Los Angeles to do stand-up comedy (instead of NY)…we are lucky to get to see him quite frequently at places like the Hollywood Improv. He has a joke about the exploding population that had me screaming like a 12-year old girl…let’s hope he tells it tonight or tomorrow. Take a look at this VideoShot and check the details below on how to get FREE tickets to see him this weekend.
Click Here to go to the Improv website…pick a show…and purchase tickets.
Upon check out…input PROMO CODE: BIL (yes…one “L”)…and create an account. There will be a $3 service charge for each ticket…which is actually $0.50 more than before…but still a solid price to see Bill Burr. You can get up to 4 tickets. If this doesn’t work…call the Improv and give them the code over the phone…that usually works also. My suggestion…get there early and have the tortilla soup and the spicy chicken fingers…then you’ll get the reserved seats. But that’s just how I do it.
Fresh off last night’s killer set on the Late Late Show, you can check out local Los Angeles comedian Ryan Sickler at the “Ignorance is Bliss” show at the Hollywood Improv. Tonight’s line-up is stellar – the only comedian I have not seen his Hixx. Everyone else is top notch. You’ll want to stick around for Kevin Shea and Sam Tripoli…who are all-star performers. $13 at the door. Show starts at 8pm.
Host: Jonny Loquasto
Get in line…
Last Comic Standing is looking for one thing – someone who can bring the funny! Candidates should be at least 18 years of age and be prepared to showcase their funniest two minutes for the talent scouts. The top comics from each city will advance to the semi-finals where they will be narrowed down to the top 10 finalists, who will then engage in a fiercely funny and fast-paced competition where only one will become the next Last Comic Standing.

Hottie comedian…Aisha Tyler…is performing at the Hollywood Improv tomorrow night – Friday, January 25th at 8pm. I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing her in person unfortunately (just to look at her or see her do stand-up)…but I think she’s smokin’…and would very much like to get her…Sarah Silverman…and my girlfriend…all in the same room. Whoa…did I just write that out loud?
